Brittany Kovacs Signs Scholarship at D1 Saint Francis in Loretto, PA

05/03/08

By OLBK

Kovacs_small

Brittany has signed a scholarship to play at Saint Francis, a Division 1 program in Loretto, Pennsylvannia. After starting to play lacrosse at 13 years of age in the Blue Knights U15HL program for 2 seasons, Brittany then moved into the Rep program and played on the U19B team for 2 seasons. The following season she made the U19A team, and played on it for 2 seasons. She was a part of 2 Provincial Championship teams and a Summer Games Championship. Brittany has developed into a very reliable attacker. She ranked 11th in league scoring in the 2007 season, with 23 goals and 24 assists for 47 points in 20 league games. Brittany is a tremendous example of an individual combining athletics and academics to her advantage in pursuing a scholarship. Brittany is a great example of a player who started in our House League program, moved into our U19B program, and then to our U19A program. She was patient, understood "paying her dues", and never ever quit. It obviously paid off!

Congratulations! Well done Brittany!

Katie Guy Accepts Scholarship To Division 1 Penn State

04/14/08

By OLBK

K_guy_small

Katie has accepted a scholarship offer to play at Penn State, a top level Division 1 program in Pennsylvannia. At 11 years of age, and playing Rep hockey Katie decided to give lacrosse a try for a summer sport. Good thing she did! She signed up for the U15 Rep Team, helping that team to one silver and 3 gold medals at Provincial Championships before graduating to the U19. She was then on the U19 Rep team that won Provincials and Ontario Summer Games. This summer is Katie’s 2nd year with the U19A team. She spent last summer not only playing on the Under 19 Canadian Team, but being a starter. At 16 years of age, she was the teams youngest player. No doubt her Canadian Team experience will be an asset to the U19A team this summer. Katie is a tremendous example of someone who set high goals and aspirations for herself, then set out and made the committment necessary to become an elite level athlete. She is to be commended and congratulated on her outstanding achievement.

Way to go Katie!!
