This Sunday the U15 House League finished off their season at the Civic in Oshawa for the championships. Teams were divided up into two separate divisions based on their overall standings.
In the A division, Mike Trevett State Farm Insurance (Black) fought with Dennis McIvor State Farm (Green) to move on to the championship game. Black started off the game strong as they shut Green down completely not allowing any goals in. With a 3 goal lead Black was fairly confident at half that they would soon meet Yellow for the Gold medal. However the tables turned in the second half as Green took the field with great determination. Green scored 5 goals in the second half while shutting Black down in the midfield. The final score of the game was 5-3 for Green where they move on to meet Yellow. Goal scorers for the Black team were Taylor Wilson with 2 goals and Amanda Barry with 1 goal. Brianna Brunt scored two goals for the Green team while her team-mates Stacy Martin, Tyra Prince and Melissa Spagnolo added singles.
In Division B Tammy Lee Hanlon State Farm Insurance (Red) faced off against Fred Hermack State Farm Insurance (Orange). Although Orange finished off their season in last place this did not discourage them from working their way back to the top. With their strong aggression and willpower they dominated on the field to capture a huge 11-6 win over Red. This sent them to meet Blue in the Division B finals. Goal scorers for Red were both Shelby Watkins and Jessica Wodzuk with 3 goals each. Lauren White led the scoring for the Orange team with 4 goals. Breanna Ling was not far behind with 3 goals as well as Caitlyn Crosby with 2 goals also adding singles were Ana-Maria Bratu and Claire Watterson.
In the A finals, Karen Low State Farm Insurance (Yellow) took the field with Green, and what a nail-biter it was! With a few minutes into the game Yellow scored their first goal where Green didn’t retaliate until the end of the first half. In the second half Green scored a quick goal this time and Yellow was quick to answer. The score was going back and forth but with just over a minute left in the Championship game Green took the lead and was able to maintain it. The final score was 5-4 for the Green Team which gave them the gold medal. Goal scorers for the Yellow team were Brooke Eastgate, Lauren Sayers, Natalee Wise and Sarah Hart all with 1 goal each. Melissa spagnolo scored 3 goals for the Green team while Brianna Brunt added 2 goals as well.
For the B Division finals Harrietta Mayers State Farm Insurance (Blue) played against Orange. It too was a close game where Orange managed to continue their hard play to capture to 8-6 win and the Gold! Goal scorers for the Blue team were Rhyen McGill with 3 and Maggie Howe, Jamie Hunt, and Alana McDaid adding singles. For the Orange team Caitlyn Crosby led the scoring with 3 goals. Both Breanna Ling and Lauren White added 2 goals each while Ana-Maria Bratu scored 1 goal.
